Texas Ramp Project
We build mobility ramps for lower income individuals in the San Antonio area. The ramps we build allow the clients more easily exit and enter their homes, providing them the ability to go to medical appointments, stores, restaurants, and general community events.

Job: Volunteer
Duties: Our volunteers demolish old ramps (when needed) and build new ramps from materials provided by Texas Ramp Project (TRP). TRP provides all the survey and design work and pre-builds base modules (the basic frame for a segment of deck). Our team attaches the first module to the home and subsequent modules to the module before it. We build supports under each module. We build and attach the final module on site. We attach decking (normally plywood) on top of the modules. We attach uprights, handrails, and wheel stops along the sides of the modules. Finally, we do a basic cleanup of the worksite to clear away any scraps left over.
Time commitment: Four to six months, in the morning, one Saturday a month (normally the first Saturday)
Skills needed: Folks are needed to move things, build things, and clean up, so we’ll use you where you’re comfortable.
Training provided: All training will be provided on site, and whenever possible we’ll try to pair you up with an experienced person to help you gain confidence in your abilities.
