Pastor Chris Kennedy
Senior Pastor
It has been my joy and privilege to serve as a pastor at Shepherd of the Hills since 2008 and as senior pastor since 2014. In those years, I've seen God's hand at work in many ways - Baptisms, weddings, funerals, outreach initiatives, major campus improvements, countless conversations, and Christ's people fed weekly through God's Word and the Sacrament of Holy Communion. I'm a native of Arlington, Texas; one of my happiest days was when the Texas Rangers won the World Series in 2023! I'm married to my beautiful wife Ashley and we have four wonderful children.
Pastor Andy Johnson
Associate Pastor
I have been blessed to serve Shepherd as Associate Pastor since July of 2021. The variety that each day brings is exciting to me, but I feel particularly called to preach and teach the Word of God. I’m always up for conversation over a good cup of coffee and enjoy getting to know our members and guests better. I’m not sure what free time is, but my lovely wife Kara and I enjoy being together with our three amazing kids.
Jeremy Gawf
Business Manager
It is an honor and privilege to serve as the business manager for Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, School, and Child Care. I have been with Shepherd for about three years. During that time, I have been blessed to see my own children receive their education here and grow spiritually. I truly enjoy interacting with the congregation members, school families, and co-workers. I enjoy the day-to-day business and grind; it’s a true blessing to see all the projects finish and the final product enjoyed. I am an Okie from Muskogee (Boomer Sooner). I have five children with my beautiful wife, Sara. I served in the United States Army for 21 years as a Chaplain Assistant and retired here in San Antonio.
Roger Howard
Director of Worship
I am privileged to direct the worship and music life at Shepherd of the Hills since 2022, having served Lutheran congregations in music (and formerly youth) ministry for 39 years. I am primary organist/keyboardist and lead talented teams of musicians in adult choir, student chapel song leaders, handbells, and contemporary praise teams. I meet with our pastors to plan worship and oversee paid staff members who serve in sound tech, media design, and Audio/Visual ministries. My wife Jeanmarie is a tax professional/enrolled agent, and we have two grown sons, Ryan and Michael.
Lauren White
Director of Christian Education
I’ve been the Director of Christian Education here at Shepherd of the Hills since June of 2019, and on weekends, you’ll probably see me everywhere—talking in the lobby, leading Shepherd’s Kids, teaching Catechism class, and helping out behind the scenes. I absolutely love sharing Jesus with others, especially kids! Some of my favorite things to be a part of include leading youth trips to camp and running VBS—it’s the best kind of organized chaos! When I’m not at church, I’m busy spending time with my husband, Dylan, and our three awesome kids. I am originally from Illinois, but I’ve fully embraced the Texas sunshine (goodbye, snow and cold weather!).

Director of Christian Education
I joined Shepherd of the Hills in 2026 and currently serve as the Director of Christian Education for middle school and high school. My passion for youth ministry started while I was in youth myself and has grown over the years. I graduated from Concordia University Austin where I studied religious education. My lovely wife Jewel and I got married in 2023 and we enjoy traveling to experience the beautiful creation of the Lord.
Laura Delz
Director of Community Relations
I serve as the Director of Community Relations at Shepherd of the Hills and love being part of such a welcoming, mission-driven team. With a background in community outreach and education, my passion is building meaningful connections that support and strengthen our church, school, and child care ministries. My family and I have been part of the Shepherd family since 2020 and enjoy serving together in many roles that support our church. We are thankful for the Christ-centered education our daughter receives at Shepherd of the Hills School, and it is a joy to watch her grow in both her faith and her education. Shepherd has been a true blessing to my family, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and help connect our community as we share God’s love with others.
Anne Snell
Bookkeeper
My journey at Shepherd of the Hills started in 2019 as Bookkeeper. I’m grateful to support the ministry through my work and bring a strong sense of integrity and attention to detail to my role - values shaped by my prior service in the military. I’m married to my loving husband, and we have two children who have enjoyed learning and growing in both their faith and education at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church & School. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, reading, and making meaningful memories with my family.
